about the community

CHUCKTOWN is a post-covid slice-of-life community that is set in the city of Charleston, South Carolina. We encourage quality writing and interaction. Our role as mods is to provide a rich world for you to create in. It is our desire to provide a framework and game you desire, and we welcome feedback and suggestions. We pride ourselves on creating a population as diverse and colorful as Charleston. As such, we encourage a wide variety of faces and characterizations. As a town/city game, CHUCKTOWN focuses on the daily lives of those living in Charleston. If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, etc, please feel free to comment the dropbox and we'll get back to you as soon as possible!

want to join?

Joining is very easy! You'll need a journal, of course. Journals can be ic or ooc, whichever you feel fits your character. We require you to have an in character / spam post, an out of character contact post, and an information post about your character. As we don't require examples, we do ask that your character's history be 5 bullet points or at least three detailed paragraphs long. To join, please place your PB hold and fill out our application. We request that all characters (and PBs) be at least 18 years of age. Please make sure your characters are +/- five years of the PB's actual age. The PB needs to be famous enough so that a simple Google search will provide some information / images of the person. PBs and characters will not be discriminated on due to ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation / identity, political opinions, etc.

activity rules

Once accepted, you will be required to make an introductory post here. You will have 72 hours to make your introductory post. Failure to do so (and reply to the comments) will result in your character's removal. Activity must be turned into the activity tracker by the last day of the month. Activity reminders will be posted in the ooc community starting mid-month. You are exempt from activity checks if you are on hiatus or were accepted on or after the 20th of the month. Removals will be done on the first add day of the month. In addition to keeping your friends list updated, you are required to submit one form of activity and reply to a monthly post that the mod team will make towards the end of the month. activity can be anything you desire, so long as it is interactive. If you're unable to meet activity for the month, please let us know at least a week prior to the end of the month. We can give you a three day extension or put you on a hiatus. Hiatuses last for no more than one month and can only be used once every three months, unless under extreme circumstances. If you are removed due to activity, we will allow you to reapply. If you are removed a second time, you will be able to reapply, however you will be on a probation of sorts and must provide TWO forms of the above activity. If you are removed a third time, you will not be allowed to reapply with that character or characters. Trigger Warnings on Posts: It is extremely important to properly tag your posts. Trigger warnings are a necessity and they apply to things that are not just localized to violence, drugs, and any other darker topics. Many things can trigger people. If you think your post could make somebody uncomfortable in any way, then make sure you tag it appropriately.

CHUCKTOWN has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to IC / OOC crossing and harassment. If the mod team has proven that you are involved with either, your character(s) will be removed immediately and you will not be allowed, or welcome, back. To help with harassment issues, we recommend that you prevent anonymous comments from being made on your entries. To do this, you will need to go to comment settings and enable commenting from registered users only. We do request that all public posts that are NSFW are kept under tags with a warning. Don't want to be cruising the friend's page while working and stumble upon something inappropriate! All rules are subject to change at mod discretion. If there are any changes to the rules, the mod team will update the players via a post in the ooc community.
